This natural amethyst geode comes from the renowned region of Ametista do Sul in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, famous worldwide for producing some of the finest amethysts ever discovered. These deposits were formed more than 130 million years ago, when quartz crystals slowly developed inside cavities within massive basalt lava flows from mineral-rich solutions.
